The Boise group will post more details on specific assignments and lesson plans at scholarworks.boisestate.edu. This page is a summary of our assignments -- as well as a place for us to post ideas discussed by Digital Institute participants.
  • The Regenre Assignment: English 101 students re-genre an essay into a new medium that targets a specific audience.Students gain experience in different technologies and enhance their understanding of writing for an audience.
  • The Semester-Long Blog Assignment: Students practice a number of traditional genres (e.g., proposals, reflections) in addition to gaining experience with writing for new genres, contexts, audiences.
  • The Web Site Assignment: Students utilize digital spaces to enhance not only audience awareness, but engagements due to creating contextualization of writing spaces in digital medias.
  • The Public Service Announcement Assignment: Students create PSAs after writing traditional research papers on a public health issue affecting their BSU classmates. Students post videos to YouTube, increasing their audience and upping the stakes as the work in the writing classroom becomes public. 
  • The Multi-Modal Service Learning Project: Graduate students completed this project, drawing on familiar research and writing skills while integrating knowledge of digital media within the framework of collaboration.
